The earthquake and Tsunami disaster that struck Aceh on 26 December 2004 was a great deal of sadness that caused the Aceh situation to be badly affected. This devastating disaster invites sympathy from various countries around the world, assistance comes to Aceh either domestically or abroad. All united provide the best for Aceh including the ArRaudhah Foundation.
Yayasan Arraudhah collaborates with PKPU Indonesia and the Malaysian Muslim Association (ISMA) has collected the orphans of the tsunami victims, who were then collected in a cottage which was originally known as “Tsunami orphan House” which was later renamed Pondok Yatim Arraudhah Tahfidz Al Quran.
At the beginning of the Yayasan Pondok, on September 10, 2005, 30 girls were accommodated and began to perform semi-tahfiz Quran activities. In July 2006 20 boys were accepted into this cottage. The learning system is still semi-tahfiz where during the day they attend regular school and the night they memorize the Quran, it is less effective. Recognizing this fact, on 1 July 2011 Pondok Yatim changed the system to focus on tahfiz Quran and academic learning normally run in cottage environment. There are now 60 orphans in the center.
